I was born in the Soviet Union, but when it collapsed, my family had to move away and start everything from scratch.
When I was 21, I moved again, this time alone and with no support to start my life in Germany.
My mother tongue is Russian. I’m very fluent in English and German. I understand a lot of Hindi/Urdu and can make it look like I can also speak it if it’s about the small talk. I understand a bit of French and Croatian, and I used to speak Finnish, working in Finland as a translator for one summer.
Add a degree in International Economic Relations and a degree in Mathematics and Computer Science on top of it, and you might get an idea how the interior of my brain looks like.
I’ve been working as a software developer, but when I went on maternity leave I started a blog to keep my brain occupied. Suddenly, I realized that I enjoy writing much more than anything else.
My blog True Stories with Gill is my current “working place”.
